Kids Crafts: Make Your Own Construction Paper Football Lacing Cards

In honor of the Super Bowl we decided a football themed craft was in order for today. Abby has been begging to do some kind of sewing because I’ve been sewing felt food all week so we decided to make football shaped lacing cards. In addition to being a great way to occupy the kids lacing is also good for fine motor skills, as is squeezing glue.
Supplies:
Football Template (download here)
Yarn
Construction Paper
Hole Punch
Plastic Yarn Needle
Scissors
Marker
Glitter Glue
Directions:
Print template and trace out the football design onto your construction paper with your marker. Cut out the design and using your hole punch, punch holes at equal intervals along the edge. Thread your yarn needle (if you don’t have a yarn needle, wrap some scotch tape around the end of the yarn and you’ll be good to go!), and tie the opposite end through one of the holes. Give to the kids and let them go to town lacing! When they’re all done you can let them decorate their football. My kids are traditionalists so glitter laces is all they wanted to do, but you can use glitter glue, markers, foam stickers or whatever else you have on hand to pretty up your creations.
