Pictures from the Flea Market at Guptills

As you can see, the flea market was PACKED!

I came across these big headed doll necklaces and just HAD to take a picture .. aren’t they CREEPY?
Since I can’t pass up a bargain, and am always on the lookout for anything unusual/unique for my house, the flea market is one of my favorite places to go. One of my favorite flea markets is held at Guptills skating rink - it only comes around a few times a year so I always try to squeezee in a trip up there when it’s in town and a few weeks ago it was, so the kids and I headed over there to check things out.
This time I was hunting for some new apple stuff for the kitchen, and of course Garden Gnomes since I collect them. I don’t know if it’s because we got there so late or what but other than the nintento game I scored (Excite Bike for $3.00!) I didn’t find very much at all. The kids had a great time looking at all of the cool stuff though, and they were well behaved so I let them pick out a prize. Abby got a pencil case/piano, and Miles got a new car. I thought the vendor that sold us the car was going to lose it though, he was going on and on about how the car was a collectors item and I just looked at him and said “not anymore”. He was HORRIFIED when I let Miles open the package and start playing with it .. I felt a little bad but, what are you going to do? All in all we had a great time and can’t wait for the flea market to be in town again!

Hello Warm Weather .. Now THIS is More Like it!

It’s no big secret that I DESPISE cold weather, so it should come as no surprise that I’ve been VERY happy with the warm weather we’ve been having here in NY the last couple of days. It’s only supposed to last until Wednesday or so but I don’t care because it’s absolutely WONDERFUL outside .. I’m not even going to complain about the humidity OR about the fact that it’s 86 degrees inside my house because I’m too cheap to turn the AC! I’m just going to enjoy the weather while it lasts and anxiously await the official arrival of Summer so it’ll be like this every day. Oh, and maybe have a frozen mudslide or two :)
Back To School and NOT Happy About It

Both of the kids were on Spring Break this week, and we had a great time just hanging out, spending time together and being lazy! Abby is in first grade, and Miles attends an ABA/developmental Preschool 5 days a week so they’re both gone for most of the day and I don’t get to see as much of either of them as I’d like. It was nice having them both here, and even though they drive me crazy sometimes I wouldn’t give up my time with them for anything in the world!
Miles’ school had a water main break back in November and there was a ton of damage so they had to relocate to a temporary building. They missed two weeks of school because of this, and now they have to make up the days they missed, so Spring break was cut short. He started back to school today and as you can see from the pictures above he was not exactly excited to go back.

What Kind of Music Do You Listen To?

Well boys and girls, it’s Friday again and you know what that means .. It’s Aloha Friday! For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, here’s a little description for you straight from An Island Life, the home of Aloha Friday:
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend (In my house the day(s) we take it easy and look forward to the weekend are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, AND Friday, lol) So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, post your own question then head over to An Island Life and link up with everyone else. Be sure to visit the other blogs participating and answer the questions they’re asking too, and leave comments because everybody LOVES comments! But enough about that …
I’ve been going through my mp3’s because I have some songs I’m just sick of, some broken downloads, and my Christmas music is STILL on my ipod and it’s April so I think it’s time for me to file it away until next year. This got me to thinking that I haven’t downloaded new music in a LONG time so that is what’s on my to-do list today.
I typically listen to “mellow” music. Some of my favorite songs are by Pink Floyd, Dave Matthews, Coldplay, Goo Goo Dolls, Led Zeppelin, and John Mayer. I also like other types of music like Nickelback, Evanescence, Lifehouse, Theory of a Deadman, Reba, and I love the theme song from True Blood by Jace Everett. I’ve also recently started listening to Iron & Wine thanks to their song on the Twilight soundtrack and they’ve got alot of good stuff (for anyone interested you can listen to and download some of their mp3’s for free here). This brings me to my question ..
Have you heard any good songs lately? OR .. What’s a good song I should listen to?
I’m looking forward to seeing what kinds of music you all listen to because I REALLY need help finding some new tunes!
Isn’t He Cute When He’s Sleeping?

Miles PASSED OUT on the couch after decorating Easter Eggs and running around with his cousins.
(Please excuse the “I need a haircut” do he’s rocking. He’s not a fan of getting his hair done so
I go as long as I possibly can between his haircuts!)
Miles has ALWAYS been a horrible sleeper. When he was a baby the Dr told me that some babies just don’t sleep very well and he would probably grow out of it. After he was diagnosed with Autism though I attributed his abnormal sleeping patterns to that and was hopeful that something out there would work for him. I’ve tried different bedtime routines, melatonin, aromatherapy, soothing sounds cd’s .. and just about every other non-sleeping pill alternative out there. Nothing has worked so far and it’s become something that I just deal with. So if I ramble on like a crazy person sometimes, it’s because I haven’t slept in almost 4 years and am exhausted all of the time!

Be sure to visit Cheaper Than Therapy for More A Thousand Words Thursday!
Pots and Pans and Bowls and Covers OH MY!

Yes, you can be jealous of my organizational skills now.

This is EVERYTHING that was inside the cabinet!

MUCH better, right? (Please excuse the crap overflowing
from the other cabinet, I’ll be cleaning that one out next week!
Back in January I made a New Years resolution to get organized. I’m easily overwhelmed by this kind of thing so I’ve been taking my time and getting it done slowly, and this week I cleaned out the cabinet that holds my pots and pans. To say that the cabinet was a mess is an understatement, in fact it was so cluttered that I didn’t even want to post the before pictures because I’m a little REALLY embarrassed that I let it get so bad!
I don’t have an explanation as to how the cabinet got so out of control in the first place or one for why I didn’t clean it out sooner, but none of that matters now as the job is done and I’m hoping to keep things tidy from now on. Next week I’ll be tackling the cabinet next to it that holds all of my cleaners, paper towels, and other miscellaneous kitchen stuff because as you can see from my pictures above it’s just as bad as this one was!
Moral of the story: When a cabinet gets so full of crap that you can’t open it without something falling out, it’s time to clean it out.
If you’d like to see what everyone else is tackling this week, head over to 5MinutesForMom for Tackle it Tuesday!
Abby and Miles Decorating Easter Eggs with their Cousin

Both Abby and Miles were super excited that the Easter Bunny is stopping by tomorrow. Miles has been insisting that the Easter Bunny is going to bring him a train, and Abby kept busy ALL day by asking if it was time to decorate eggs yet. Around 7:00 it was FINALLY time to decorate the eggs, so we got everything ready and got down to business. Miles doesn’t care to get his hands dirty so Abby their cousin Charity and I dyed all of the eggs, and after they were dry Miles helped put the stickers on them. We did about a dozen and a half eggs and I think that’s plenty. Now .. we just have to wait for the Easter Bunny to show!
