Tackle it Tuesday Cleaning out the Closet

I’m not usually one for new years resolutions but this year I thought what the heck so, I ”resolve” to pick a religion, use the treadmill that I *had* to have and hardly ever use, make some new friends, and to get organized. When I came across “Tackle it Tuesday” I thought that has help me get organized written all over it, so here I am.
On the surface things around here are appear to be clean and tidy but open up a drawer or cupboard and well, that’s a different story. It’s so easy for me to have the “out of sight out of mind” additude when it comes to this and that’s something that I’m trying to change. I don’t really have a game plan except for taking it slow so I don’t overwhelm myself because I’ve got a lot of organizing to do! So if anybody has got any suggestions for this or any of my other resolutions I’d love to hear what you’ve got to say!
This week I decided to tackle my hall closet. It’s home to my stockpile, towels, kids craft stuff, and from the looks of my before pictures (that I can’t believe I’m posting), anything and everything else I could shove in there. I started out by emptying everything out and sorting all of the crap into four piles: keep, toss, donate, and doesn’t belong here. After I was done I took the “doesn’t belong here pile” and put the stuff where it does belong, bagged up the donate and garbage piles and then neatly put everything from the keep pile back into the closet. The whole project took about an hour and a half and you can see the before and after pictures above. Looking for more exciting Tackle it Tuesday action? Head over to 5 Minutes For Mom.

What a great tackle! It feels so good to accomplish something like that, doesn’t it?
Have you read “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle? It has helped me feel so much peace, spiritually speaking. I’m not even done reading it yet, but something about it just resonates with me. Definitely worth a try.

Great job! It looks great. I have similar resolutions–I’ve uncovered the treadmill, that’s a good first step! I definitely need to get more organized around here as well. That was the only official resolution I made to weed out, de-clutter and organize!

Yes just take it slow so you dont get discouraged. Great start. I am continuing on organizing, decluttering and cleaning from what I started in 2008. I am getting there slowly . Slow and steady win the race.

Don’t you just love the feeling of knowing that behind that closed door is a well organized space, almost makes ya want to keep the door open, lol!!!
