Twilight the movie, I tried really hard to like it.
Everybody knows that the book is ALWAYS better than the movie but even so, I had high hopes for the movie adaptation of Twilight. The previews were pretty good, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson seemed to have good chemistry and I thought, what the heck I’ll spend a Saturday afternoon checking it out. So I did and I can’t believe I’m going to say this about my beloved Twilight but what a disappointment! Now obviously it wasn’t going to be like the book word for word but I felt the movie missed everything that made me love the book. It seemed like they met once in the lunch room and were falling over in love with each other and that’s just not the way it was supposed to happen. It was almost like things were in fast forward or something. Jasper was straight up creepy, and Rosalie, let’s just say she had some junk in the trunk (garage scene anyone?) and I was not expecting that of a character that is supposed to be “the incarnation of pure beauty”. On the positive, the baseball scene was pretty cool and James (remember him from The OC?) was looking pretty good.
Overall the movie was too cheesy for my taste and it just wasn’t what I was expecting. It just wasn’t my Twilight. My Twilight was a sappy and romantic love story and the movie was well, I’m not sure what that was but it wasn’t MY Twilight. Maybe if I hadn’t read the books I would have liked it more, I don’t know. I do know that I’m reading Twilight again (for the fourth time) so my memory isn’t clouded by the all the craptastic details of the movie, and I hope they do a better job when they make New Moon.
